Winter activities at the maintenance facility

Winter rebuild is in full swing at the maintenance facility. I always receive alot of questions pertaining to what we do in the winter months. The main thing we try to accomplish is to address equipment maintenance that we do not have time to do in summer. Nick Kray, one of our assistant superintendent's is seen adjusting reels after grinding the reel in the top picture and Todd Cody, our irrigation technician, is refurbishing trash receptacles and ballwashers in the lower picture.

We received some much needed rain last night. Three inches to be exact, along with 1.5" the previous two days brings us back to normal on rainfall for the year.

We are officially in frost season now so please check in with the proshop before you come out to play if you think we have frost. Typically we see heavy frost on nights when the low temperature dips into the twenties. Playing on frost can injure the crown of the grass plant since it is frozen. Causing a bruising effect or purplish appearance to the turf.
